Delivering Instruction: What Teachers Need to Know is part of the PROGRESS Center's Instructional Practices module series. The PROGRESS Center's Instructional Practices modules are focused on evidence-based, high-leverage practices (HLPs) that research has shown support implementation of high-quality instructional programming for students with and at risk for disabilities - regardless of their identified disability category or grade span.

Delivering instruction specifically aligns with:
  • HLP 15: Provide scaffolded supports
  • HLP 16: Use explicit instruction
  • HLP 18: Use strategies to promote active student engagement
  • HLP 22: Provide positive and constructive feedback to guide students' learning and behavior

At the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  • Define explicit instruction
  • Describe how to:
    • model,
    • provide guided and independent practice opportunities,
    • and use supporting practices within modeling and practice.

This course, including activities, is expected to take approximately 30 minutes to complete. You may complete the course in one sitting or return at a later time.

In addition to the self-paced module, the course includes a collection of resources highlighted in the module, as well as a course completion certificate. You will be able to access the course completion certificate only after the module has been completed.
